Breathing Air Test Kit
Introduction
It is the employer’s responsibility under COSHH Respiratory Protection Equipment Code of Practice BS EN 12021, to ensure that the air quality being supplied to a respiratory device (such as blast helmet or painting mask) is safe to breathe.
Breathing air quality must be tested every 3 months or whenever a portable compressor is moved to a new location - which ever is the shortest period.
While most portable or wall mounted breathing filters remove particle contaminates, as well as oil mists and water vapour, they do not remove harmful gases such as Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide, it is therefore critical that regular testing is carried out.
Our Air Quality Test Kit allows regular simple tests to be carried out for the most common contaminants and documented for future reference.
Features
- The boxed kit includes regulator, air flow meter, two detection tube holders and one set of detection tubes.
- Additional sets of detections tubes are available in boxes of 10.
- The tests should be carried out at each point after any breathing filters / regulators, i.e. at each operator outlet.
- The tests are carried using four detection tubes containing a chemical which changes colour in response to the contaminant being tested. The tubes are calibrated to give a visual indication of the amount of contaminant present so the actual levels detected can be compared to legal limits.
- The Kit Tests for:
- Air Flow
- Water Vapour
- Oil Mist
- Carbon Monoxide
- Carbon Monoxide.
- A complete set of tests can be carried out in around 30 minutes
- The test kit is simple to use and only requires basic operator instruction,
- Record cards are provided to document the test results.
